US GOVERNMENT RENDERS 700,000 USD'S WORTH OF TECHNICAL AID TO KOTOVSK (ODESA REGION) BORDERGUARD DETACHMENT
On Monday, March 28 a ceremony was held in the town of Kotovsk, Odesa region, in which 700,000 USD's worth of equipment was turned over to the Kotovsk Borderguard Detachment as the US Government's technical aid within the framework of the project "Strengthening transborder management along the Ukrainian-Moldovan frontier".
The project's implementation has been entrusted to the US-based company Raytheon Technical Services.
The equipment includes 12 metal detectors, 48 photo-video documentation devices, 79 radios, 144 radiation gauges, night vision devices, binoculars, 38 automobiles, 100 sets for passport control, safes.
The Southern Regional Agency of the State Borderguard Service is in charge of controlling an over 122,000-km-long Ukrainian-Moldavian borderline, including 405 kilometres of the Ukrainian-Transdniestrian frontier.
Since the Kotovsk Borderguard Detachment was established it has detained over 10,000 offenders, has confiscated over 17 M. UAH's worth of contraband commodities, over 60 fire-arms, 30 hand grenades, six kilos of explosives, about 20,000 rounds of ammunition, over 44 kg of drugs.
