On 22 January 2010 the 8th trilateral meeting on border-related issues organized by the European Commission with Moldova and Ukraine was held in Brussels.
Representatives from the ministries for foreign affairs, border and customs services of Moldova and Ukraine as well as officials of European Commission Directorates General RELEX, justice, security and freedom, taxation and customs union, DG Trade, EU border assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM), OSCE have discussed cooperation between Ukraine, Moldova and EUBAM on joint border and customs control, state border demarcation, border security and fight against corruption.
The participants noted successful implementation of the international commitments on ensuring the customs regime, cooperation in the field of preliminary information exchange on goods, customs law enforcement, effective cross border operations and called for further close cooperation with the EUBAM.
The mandate of the EUBAM, which has been functioning in accordance to the Memorandum between Government of Ukraine and European Commission since November in 2005, was extended in 2009 for 2 more years.
