In the EU Council conclusions, made public on 11 December 2009, the Council welcomes the start of the implementation of the Eastern Partnership since its launch at the Summit held in Prague on 7 May 2009.
Brussels notes with satisfaction all the recent steps and initiatives taken to strengthen and deepen the relations between the EU and Ukraine.
In the conclusions it is underlined that the EU is committed to further implement the Eastern Partnership and to promote political and socio-economic reforms of the partner countries, facilitatiting approximation towards the European Union, says the document distributed by the EU Council Secretariat General.
The leaders of the EU member states approved such a decision at the meeting of the European Council in accordance to the results of the Eastern Partnership ministerial meeting held in Brussels on 08 December 2009. At that meeting it was emphasized that the EU considers Ukraine as a leading EaP country.
