On 16 June 2009 the XIII meeting of EU-Ukraine Cooperation Council took place.
The Ukrainian delegation was headed by Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, while the EU delegation by Mr.Jan Kohout, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, currently holding the presidency.
The meeting was dedicated to the discussion of the state of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU with a focus on the negotiation process on Association agreement, cooperation in foreign and security policy, trade and economy, visa dialogue and sectoral co-operation, in particular energy issues.
The parties also discussed the Eastern Partnership initiative launched on 7 May in Prague.
At the meeting the delegations politically supported the expressed political support to conclude EU-Ukraine Association Agenda to replace EU-Ukraine Action Plan. The Association Agenda will prepare for and facilitate the entry into force of the Association Agreement, and will promote further political association with and economic integration of Ukraine into the EU by creating a comprehensive and practical framework through which these overriding objectives can be realized.
Within the Cooperation Council, Prime Minister Y.Tymoshenko met with Dr.Javier Solana, EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy, and with Mrs. B.Ferrero-Waldner, EU Commissioner for External Relations and Neihbourhood Policy.
While in Luxembourg, Y.Tymoshenko had a series of bilateral meetings, in particular with H.R.H. Grand Duke of Luxembourg Henri and Prime Minister of Luxembourg J.-C.Juncker.
