Subcommittee #6 on Justice, Freedom and Security meeting took place on 13 May 2009 in Brussels.

The Ukrainian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine Mrs. Valeria Lutkovska. Mr. John Kjaer, the Head of Unit Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, Southern Caucasus, DG RELEX, European Commission, represented the EU side.

The parties discussed migration and asylum, border management, fighting against organized crime, corruption, drugs, cooperation with Europol and Eurojust, strengthening the judiciary, legal cooperation in civil matters, human rights protection as well as the visa dialogue development and implementation of the agreements on visa facilitation and on readmission.

Following the discussion the parties stated the progress in Ukraine’s implementation of Ukraine-EU Action Plan on Justice, Freedom and Security of 2007.
